Rabbi Victor S. Appell, Rutgers

Rabbi Victor S. Appell, Rutgers

Rabbi Victor Appell has the best job in the world. He is the Reform community rabbi and Senior Jewish Educator at Rutgers Hillel, serving over 6,000 Jewish students at one of the most beautiful Hillel Houses you will ever see. Rabbi Victor was ordained by Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, the seminary of the Reform movement. He is passionate about racial justice, anything Queer, and worship that moves him to tears. He is happiest when he is teaching Torah and loves to talk about the confluence of sexuality and spirituality. Before joining Hillel, Rabbi Victor worked for the Reform movement in a variety of positions, most recently as editor-in-chief of Ten Minutes of Torah, the daily online learning opportunity of the Reform movement. Before he entered seminary, Rabbi Victor worked in the apparel industry, where he marketed and sold ridiculously expensive children’s clothing. When not at Hillel, Rabbi Victor can be found with his husband Colin binge watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, or watching their two sons, Avi and Lev, playing soccer.
