Rabbi Hayley Goldstein, Cornell

Rabbi Hayley Goldstein, Cornell

Rabbi Hayley Goldstein is the Rabbi of Base Ithaca, a project of Cornell Hillel which facilitates #shabbosmagic and Jewish learning in a home-based pluralistic environment for Cornell students. Hayley grew up outside of Minneapolis, MN,  received a BA in Religious Studies from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado and Rabbinic Ordination at Hebrew College Rabbinical School in Newton, MA.

Prior to Base, Hayley served as the Rabbinic Intern at Nehar Shalom Community Synagogue in Jamaica Plain, MA. As a SVARA-trained Educator, Hayley is honored to have run several batei midrash in both Israel and in Boston. Her favorite teaching moment is when two hevrutot (study buddies) high five one another in support of their learning. Hayley has served as a chaplain in a full-service hospital and in a rehabilitation center for the elderly. Her passion lies in shaking up people’s preconceived notions of what Judaism is/was/can be/will be. Through her and her partner Lizzie's project Nireh Or, they strive to redefine social media as a place where Torah can and should exist.
Hayley can be found learning/teaching Talmud, preparing delicious chicken for shabbos, singing complex chasidic niggunim, or ushering in the Sabbath by cleaning the house to the music of Usher.
