Ilan Schwartz, OSU

Rabbi Ilan Schwartz is the Senior Jewish Educator at The Ohio State University Hillel. Rabbi Ilan was ordained in 2015 at the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. Before deciding to become a rabbi, Ilan worked for United Synagogue Youth for three years, running the USY on Wheels program, and received B.A.’s in History and Talmud from Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary. Originally from New York, Ilan is passionate about the Mets and Giants, as well as the right way to eat a bagel.

Ilan works to find the right way to engage each student in Jewish life on their terms. He also teaches tirelessly to help students understand what they want out of Jewish life on campus, and not feel guilty about it. Ilan uses a healthy belief in God as a basis for what we should be doing to make the world better than how we found it. Ilan lives in Bexley, OH with his wife Rebecca and four sons.
