Alexa Zappia, Buffalo
Alexa Zappia was born and raised in Williamsville, NY. She graduated in May from St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY majoring in Inclusive Childhood Education with a Concentration in English Literature. In 2009, Alexa faced tragedy when her life mentor, Cantor Susan Wehle, suddenly passed away in the Flight 3407 plane crash. Alexa wanted to do something that would make her proud by continuing to touch peoples’ lives as Susan touched hers. To Alexa, she found her life’s purpose: to volunteer at struggling organizations within the Buffalo community. Since the plane crash, Alexa has accumulated over 3,000 volunteer hours helping organizations in need.
In the past year, Alexa created an organization known as Rocks of Unity™. Rocks of Unity™ uses dialogue and art to teach, empower, and advocate inclusivity. Alexa has grown Rocks of Unity from one school in Buffalo to over 25 different countries and over 35 different states. Alexa has grown Rocks of Unity™ on social media as well where she writes Daily Doses of Kindness to promote positivity to global audiences.
Outside of work, Alexa’s family and friends are the most important aspects of her life. She is the happiest when she is surrounded by those she loves the most. Alexa’s passion is yoga which she continues to practice each day at her yoga studio, East Meets West Yoga. She loves Broadway and musical theater as well.
